- Well, hi there! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself. I'm a 40+ straight Asian male (not that it matters, but maybe it does to you). I'm outgoing, fun, and easy to talk to. I'm looking to write to a penpal primarily because I have no close friends :-( -- more on this later, but it's going to take you to know me a little better before I'm able to segue into an elaboration on why I have no close friends ;-).
I really enjoy interacting with people one-on-one. Maybe we'll spark off an intellectually stimulating conversation? Who knows. We can talk about anything that strikes your fancy -- just so long as the talk is respectful.
I really don't care about your race or creed. If you're interested in dropping me a line, please do so by all means! I will respond to all requests, so if you haven't heard from me for a couple of days, give me a prod! It most likely means I've overlooked your message or I haven't had the time to respond yet.
One thing I WILL add is I'm very busy with work and an active outdoor lifestyle. So, it may sometimes take days, weeks, or even months before I find the time to respond. Please don't be offended if I haven't responded to you in a while. It simply means I have other commitments that are preventing me from writing back. I do realize relationships of any kind (friendships, penpalship, etc.) take commitment, but I do want to put this out there to give you a "heads up," so you know what you might be getting into!
I enjoy a lot of things and I consider myself to be quite well-rounded. Many of the things I enjoy doing are outdoorsy in nature, but I CAN be cerebral, too.
Some of the things I enjoy most are running, hiking, and photography. I try to hike at least once or twice a week. I hike alone A LOT, which breaks the cardinal rule of hiking: Never hike alone. But I do it anyway, partly because I'm unable to find someone to hike with and partly because I WANT to. There's something very profound and powerful about solitude and about knowing there's not a human soul for MILES and MILES around. I don't know if anybody can relate to what I'm talking about. It's just something experiential that I find hard putting in words.
I have an addiction to online shopping -- I spend a fair amount of money each month on eBay, Amazon, and other online shopping sites. I love nature and I'm the kind of person who is perfectly content to just sit out in the nature and quietly marvel at her grandeur. I also enjoy being out on the road to visit new places and see new sights. When I'm indoors, or out and about tending to life's little demands, I often hanker for the open road or for the hiking trails that are amidst a desolate and breathtaking landscape. My ex poignantly pointed out that I'm most happy when I'm out in nature. She was right. I'm no John Muir to be sure, but I feel a profound connection to nature (sounds cheesy, doesn't it?).
And this concludes a not-so-brief introduction of myself. If you've made it this far, I thank you for your time and for taking an interest in me.
Again, to reiterate: Don't hesitate to write me; I will respond to everyone. If you haven't heard from me for a couple of days, it most likely means I've overlooked your message or I haven't had the time to respond yet. Give me a prod!
Good luck in your search for a penpal... :-)
